Til Ik year's class has chosen for Its motto, "Dreams, Then Deeds." This theme will also accom pany the Ilaccalaureate sermon, the subject of which has been announced as "The Challenge of the I'nattained." This also is an annual affair held at the Methodist church under the auspices of the Ash land Ministerial association. The affair will lie on Sunday even inn. May 21. The class is to meet early and enter the church in a body for the exercises. The Rev. Sidney Hall is to preach the sermon tor the class. The Methodist choir Ih going to furnish the music, with Mrs. Frank Davis at the pipe organ. Artistique THE GLEE Clubs gave a twen ty minute program at the Nor mal School assembly Monday morning. The Mixed, Girls', and Hoys' Glee Clubs each sang two numbers. ' THE SENIOR girls are going through commencement activi ties this year very economically, having put a limit of $11. 00 on the expenditures for these occas ions. Many of the girls have said that they are going to wear organdy or some such material that can be worn afterwards. "Once In a Palace," hi to be presented in the Senior High gym tonight at 8:00 o'clock so If you want to make these "supposes" come to life well, go to the play! MAYDE some of you didn't know it, but the Rogue News re ceives papers from other high schools all over the country. Pa pers have been received from Ho nolulu, Cincinnati, Kansas, Vir ginia, etc. Papers are received regularly from most Oregon schools and others close. Why don't you glance at some of these papers? They're In the left end of the library and are placed there for you to read. A teacher in Oakland, has or ganized a Poetry Club. Its pur pose In for those students who enjoy poetry to get together and discuss the works of recognized poets. THE CAMP Fire girls work every year to put on their an nual Stunt Show. The money that is earned at this entertainment is used to buy things that are needed to help run the camp. This year the girls feel greatly repaid for their work as satis factory amount was attained at the entertainment last Friday night. THE ASSEMBLY has had sev eral short skits presented there recently. The Junior High oper etta cast gave a selection from their play. The Campfire Stunt Show group presented some se lections, a Capt. Young, magic ian, amazed his audience with feats of magic, and the Senior Play cast gave a part of one act. These diversions have been little events in the school year. In the shorthand contest, in dividual honors went to Lloyd Arant and Rachel Forsythe, the former taking first place and the latter third place. This con test was very close, and the con testants were but a fraction apart. Miss Tjosdal is In charge of the typing team and Mrs. White of the shorthand. They, with Mr. Forsythe. accompanied the teams to Corvallis where the meet was held. A mock faculty meeting was held before an assembly by the seniors of George Washington High, Danville, Virginia, recently.
