YOUTH
One Lindberg writes, of "The ILand of Youth," a most
fitting thought for Thanksgiving:
Men sought the fountain of eternal youth
And in their quest found death, for they were blind.
They sought a legend, and so missed the truth;
The world is one vast fountainhead of youth
Which none with eyes to see can fail to find.
Men call the mountain old! The peaks that glow
With youthful flush, to greet each newborn day!
All living creatures of the hills express
The truth of nature's ageless youthfulness;
Kager, alert, alive as lawns at play.
The pines, men say, are old the pines that wear,
Even in winter, the bright garb of spring!
There is no truer symlol to be seen
Of youth eternal, than the evergreen,
Here in a land where youth rules everything.
Eternal snows seem old, but in them throbs
The pulse of mighty rivers yet to be.
The rocks seem old, but water's ceaseless toil
Grinds them, ami forms new fields of fertile soil.
Here, out of age, youth spring eternally.
Young or old, discouraged or happy, rich or )oor, fear
less or fearful, we can ever from this great land of youth
gain inspiration and learn of (Sod and know His ever
lasting youth and power and love.
