NAME ALL-STARS
OF TOURNAMENT

Some fine games were witness
ed at (the final session of the
Southern Normal's Invitational
basketball tourney. Arago de
flated Riverton. her traditional
rival, to win the championship
trophy and first place honors of
l lie conference. The consolation
liampionship was won by Gard
iner, playng against Gold Hill
The third place championship
trophy was won by Chiloquln.
They defeated Drain In a good
fnst contest. Winning from Cen
tral Point by a wide margin.
Rogue River carried third place
in the consolation contests.
The first quarter of the cham
pionship same was very close
and fast. The score at the end
of the period was 8 to 10, in
favor of Arago. The lead was.
pver broken. At the end of the
Keller Mabbot, and the Seniors
are under the combined tutelage
of Preston Becot and Kenneth
Darling. The post graduate team
is 'managed bjy Leroy Riley but
has no coach. Each man plays
a brand of ball all his own.
After a week of practice,
tourney opened Monday, March
14, with the Soph more defeating
the Juniors in a hard fought
game 23-13. In the evening the
school annual this year. The book
will contain individual picture
of senior and group pictures of
other classes.
The Interclass Tournament has
continued Its games for this I
week. Monday afternoon the Se
niors lost to the Sophomores, i
Scores 25-11. That evening thej
Post Graduates lost to the Ju- '
niors. Score 23-16. Tuesday the I
Seniors defeated the post grad-! Juniors overcame the Seniors by j
uates -7. ' a 35 to 24 score.
Tuesday the Sophmores and At the end of the tournament ,
Post Graduates fought a fast. an all-star team will be picked ',
exciting game. A fake whistle' by the coaches who ihave been j
at the finish caused the whole coaching the class teams.

came the Juniors in a 13-12
game. The Seniors led 11-1 at
the half, but Mabbot's maulers
overcame the lead In the second
period.
GIRLS' SPORTS

to forge ahead, and fell farther

score was 33 to 23.
The SONS officials In charge
of the tournament selected twelve
men as an honorary squad by
virtue of their team play, scor
ing ability, and their general
value to their team. Thee twelve

Small schools, having not more
than thirty persons In the en
U.o student body, sent their
trams in to play in the contest.
One of these was Gardiner. She
I'm about eight boys in the stu
dent body. All eight of them
v.cre In uniform and on the floor
the night that she won the con
elation championship.
The outstanding player of the
tourney was P. McFarlane. He
scored 52 points to take the high
point honors of the tournament.
Second to him was a Mear, with
34 points.
Miss Magoon has said "We
would like to have bigger turn
outs of girls who are out to play
for the fun of placing, to be
come skilled in their chosen
sports, and to cooperate In put-1 mm
ting the G. A. R. organization on j""

All girls In school, whether
G. A. R. members or not, may
go out for sports. Baseball and
track are practices In Tuesday
and Thursday. On Wednesday
there Is a clogging class which
has several beginners. A tennis
tournament of the ladder variety
Is being played off.
Miss Magoon says of tennis.
"In the tournament more atten
tion Is being paid to form, and
this makes for better games."
