of being the first to have their
Harnett engraved on the Christ
ian Citizenship Cup. This is
the highest honor granted in
Ashland High School.
Grace Coomhe and Harry
Smith were elected by the student-body
as the first two stu
dents to have their names engraved on the Christian Citizenship
up which Mr. and Mrs. Walters presented to the high school
st fall.
In order to become a candidate the boys and girls of the
senior class were to have met the following qualifications: Tl e y
must have an average of 85 in all subjects, an average of 2 In
citizenship, a good attitude toward their teachers and fellow
students; they must be Interesed in athletics, must not cut classes.
must not use tobacco in any form or indulge in other harmful
practices of this nature. All in all, these people should have all
the qualities of a good Christian citizen.
The candidates were nominated by Mr. Walters, Mr. Hal
McNair, Mr. Bliss, Mr. Forsythe, Miss Rerg, and Miss McCormaek.
This committee nominated three girls, Grace- Coomhe, Eunice
Hagar, and Holly Trask. and two boys, Harry Smith and George
Heryford. In presenting the cup to the two winners, after elec
tion on Monday. May IS. Mr. Walters stated that he wished to
have more of the students eligible for nomination next year, and
although they did not have the majority of votes, he wished to
e all those nominated this year and in years to come feel It
an honor to have been so close to having their names put on the
Chiistian Citizenship Cup.
