Thanks To Business Men
The students and faculty of
the high school wish to thank
the business men and citizens
o; Ashland who. hy their help,
have made it possible to put out
nu annual. Owing to the small.
ness of the school it Is quite I
often necessary to call on busi. I
ness men for help, and as yet
they have never refused their
services. Again the students
wish to extend their appreciation
for the cooperation of the peo
ple down town.
Seniors Say "Adios"
A. H. S.
To
- Well, the Seniors are gon
at least most of them. ThiR
sad fate hag been Impending,
throughout the whule year, but
last week the realization that
their high school days were mini
btred came forcibly to the Mil-
je:ir Senior class.
When the last two periods
were given, they almost cried
twith grief, of course) to think
that they would never tak
other one.
On hick day. they tried to
hide their grie: and act more
or less childish, hut alas! It
could not be done (I mean
they couldn't hide their grief
very well, although they seemed
to be able to act childish
enough).
Poor Seniors, we extend to
them our sympathy and under
standing iu their immense grief.
Still they have It pretty soft.
They are given the next week
or two "off " for fun and frolic
while we stay heie and "K
the Home Fires Burning." Per
haps, after all, we had better
save our s mpathy.
"Who had the first radio set?"
"Paul Hevere, he broadcasted
on cne plug."
As we finish winding up this
school yfr, are we all making
resolutions and plans toward a
bigger and better year after our
sun'mer vacation? There are
many ways in which we. inol
vidually or collectively, may for
ward the reputation of our
school.
Already Ashhind has a repu
tation for sending people to col
lege who make records for them
selves. But ordinarily, those
records do not begin in col
lege. They originate in the
grade schools and high school
It is our duty to uphold the
reputation Ashland high school
has and to extend it as the
school grows.
New roads for scholastic activ
itieg have been opened by the
oratorv contests, which were held
for the fit st time this y a
Then of course, there are the
typing, shorthand and debate
fields, which are always entn
iastically endorsed by the stu.
dents. j
Aside from the value to the
school, self benefit from these
activities should be considered.
The knowledge, poise and ex
perience gained Trom them are
Invaluable, as well as the mater
ialistic rewards that some of
these contests offer to individuals.
Let's think about these things,
talk with our teachers about
them, and woik on the fields,
which we choose, over the summer.
We cannot refrlain from con-!
gratulating the Junior high
school students on their success
at the recent track meet. We
are proud of them and are glad
that some day they will be high
school students, too. They cer
tainly deserve ctedit for their
ork, which bespeaks much prac
tice aud hard training. Keep
up the good work!
Congratulations are most cer
tainly due our directors for the
successful operetta and plays
which have been given during
his year. Their untiring efforts
weie rewarded by praiseworthy
results. "Mrs. Temple's Tele.
sram," was a fitting climax to
the dramatic projects of the year.
