Latinas and embracing all those who love
them with an all-day feast for the senses
Saturday, July 16. Attendees can look for­
ward to a brunch at 11 a.m. catered by
Mayahuel Catering at Q_Center (4115 N.
Mississippi Ave.), a motorcycle and bicycle
ride from Q_to Col. Summers Park at 2 p.m.,
followed by the capper—an enormous Cel­
ebrAccion dance party at Crush (1400 SE
Morrison St.) co-hosted by Chicas and the
folks behind Chocolate City.
Sunday, July 17 brings the bigger, better,
hotter and later 2011 PDX Latino Gay
Pride festival to a whole new level at the

ton celebrates the pride of all ethnic and
sexual minorities Saturday, August 6 from
noon to 5 p.m. at McKenzie Park (320 S.
First St.). Entertainment includes local
band Bent, Native American dancers and
the Mexican dance troupe Bailadores del
Sol, as well as Portland musician Joaquin
Lopez and much more.
Lastly in pride news, Portland Black
Pride wants to hear from you. The organi­

A full lineup of performers, special guest
speakers, nonprofit organization representa­
tives and more are scheduled to take the
main stage. At 4 p.m., the Mariposa Awards
are to be distributed to those Portland La­
tino Gay Pride deemed outstanding indi­
viduals and organizations making a differ­
ence in the community. Recipients include
Debra Porta of Pride Northwest, David
Zambrano of the Miss Latin Look Interna­
tional Pageants, Ju st Out publisher Marty
Davis and Manuel Ramos of Lo Nuestro
Ballet Folklórico.
And don’t forget statewide pride celebra­
tions. Oregon’s governmental seat gets
loud and proud Saturday, August 6 from
10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Cascade Gateway Park

and longtime editor of C urve magazine Di­
ane Anderson-Minshall as its new executive
editor Wednesday, July 6, according to M e­
dia Bistro’s FishbowlLA blog.
Anderson-Minshall, whom Ju st Out most
recently profiled as she transitioned from
editing C urve to embarking on the Green­
ing America tour with her husband Jacob,
has moved to Los Angeles, where she will
report to editor-in-chief Matthew Breen at
the magazine’s L.A. office.
“Diane comes to The A dvocate with an
extensive background in LGBT media and
an infectious enthusiasm for the important
stories our community has to tell. I’m very
excited to be working with her to further
our long history of delivering compelling
