Trivial Pursuits
ShanRock’s Triviology pits Queers against Breed
ers in epic battle of wits
If you fancy yourself a regular Cliff Clavin—you know, that well-
meaning Cheers regular with a noggin full o f useless trivia— no doubt
you’re positively giddy for the local groundswell o f nights devoted to
random info, geeks, dorks and nerds. And o f the many match-ups
around town, ShanRock’s Triviology stands out.
No, really. How can you not stand out with Wednesday, June 22’s in
spired evening, Queers vs. Breeders: The Return at Foggy Notion?
Bi-curious folks are encouraged to “play for the other team”— or swing
any which way but/and/or loose— for this themed competition, during
which topics may range from figure skaters to “how many times Don
Draper tainted the sanctity o f his straight marriage” in the first season
of M ad Men.
Teams are limited to five members, with prizes, a trophy and (of
course) bragging rights to the victors. Hosts Michele (representing the
Queers) and ShanRock herself, Shannon Donaldson (representing the
Breeders), serve as trivia jockeys for the night, when the Queers will
defend their championship from two years ago.
And with future installments devoted to Harry Potter (July 11 at
Ella Street Social Club) and Grease (July 17 at East Burn), win or lose,
the queer quizzery won’t be quitting anytime soon. Game on, Breeders,
game on.
