all over the spectrum.”

Pivot and Cascade AIDS Project
showcase local photographer’s work
After being featured in regional and national publications, exhibiting at
Portland’s own Q_Center and the Qmunity Center in Vancouver, Canada,
local photographer Jeffrey Horvitz is the spotlighted artist at Pivot for the
month of June.
The San Francisco native, who’s currently compiling a series o f “Queer
Aperture” images for a planned book of the same name, has photographed
LGBT athletes—both in and out o f uniform—gay community leaders and
straight allies.
“Through the Queer Aperture project, I’ve met all kinds o f people who
don’t define themselves as either all gay or all straight, but rather are all
over the spectrum,” says Horvitz.
“That’s why one o f the most important aspects o f Queer Aperture is
its allies. M y straight friends and family, who don’t view being gay as out
of the norm, [have] made it quite a bit easier to be who I am.” JW
