concert Thursday, April 28 at 6:30 p.m. fea­
turing the acoustic attack o f musicians Tom
Goss, Jeffrey Altergott and Shannon Grady.
Goss’ newest music video, “Lover,” con­
fronted “Don’t ask, don’t tell” and was recently
featured in The Advocate, Out.com , Towleroad
and After Elton. Tickets for this intimate
performance are on a $10-$ 15 sliding scale
donation. All ages are welcome.
Also upcoming at the Q i The Vagina Mono­
logues receives a makeover Friday, May 6
and Saturday, May 7 during a unique fund­
raising event. Eve Ensler’s groundbreaking
work will be augmented to include bringing
trans-women and queer-identified persons
from various backgrounds together to convey
their experiences.
Tickets to both shows run $12, or $10 for
students. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the show

• Mr. Gay Portland XXXV Ayden LaCroix
presents an Underwear Fashion Show Sat­
urday, May 7 at CC Slaughters (219 N W
Davis St.). Proceeds from the event benefit
the Audria M. Edwards Scholarship Fund.

at 7. There is a $5 suggested donation.

• The Sexual and Gender Minority Youth
Resource Center (SMYRC) hosts the fourth
annual Night o f Noise Friday, April 15 from
7 to 10 p.m. at its drop-in center (3024 NE
M artin Luther King Jr. Blvd.). W ith assis­
tance from the Pride Project, as well as Port­
land State University’s Sexual and Gender
M inority Youth Capstone Class and the
Queer Resource Center, N ight of Noise
brings LGBTQ_youth and allies ages 12-23
together to share stories and experiences
around the national Day of Silence.
Farther south, The Domino Room in Bend,
Ore. (51 N W Greenwood Ave.) hosts “That’s
So Gay," a Night of Noise celebration, also on
April 15, from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. The event fea­
tures an open mic organized by Queer Youth
Space, stand-up comedian Chris Doucette
from New York City and Portland drag-com­
edy duo ChiChi and Chonga.

A limited number of tickets remain for the
11th Annual Red Dress Party Saturday, April
16. The fundraiser, this year themed “Red Hot,”
takes place at 535 N W 10th Ave. at Hoyt Street
in the Pearl District.
All proceeds raised benefit Q_Center, Pivot
and the YWCA of Clark County’s SafeChoice
Program. Online ticket sales are no longer avail­
able, but some general admission tickets may
still be purchased at Starky’s (SE 29th and Stark

• On Friday, April 29 at 7:30 p.m., “A Class
Act,” the signature fundraising event for the
Bill and Ann Shepherd Legal Scholarship
Fund, will be held at The Old Church (1422
SW 11th Ave.). The benefit, a classical music
and dessert revue, will once again feature com­
poser and soprano Theresa Koon, back by
popular demand. Honorary co-chairs of this
year’s Shepherd Fund include Charles Hinkle,
Vera Katz, Norma Paulus, Cheryl Perrin, for­
mer Portland Mayor Tom Potter and Kathleen
Saadat.
Tickets are $40 advance, $50 at the door.

• Portland State University hosts the first
annual Queer Students o f Color Confer­
ence April 29 through May 1. The confer­
ence is designed to provide resources, leader­
ship, training and skills through workshops
that engage, stimulate and bring awareness to
the unique issues that affect queer students of
color and the communities they occupy.
W hile the conference’s focus is on queer
students of color, heterosexual and white al­
lies are welcome to join in on conversations as
participants. There is a $10 registration fee at
the door.
