W hat’s better than a night full of long-loved local
queer musicians? When those subcultural icons amp
up the nostalgia by covering the music of the genera
tion before them.
Cue what Kaia Wilson is calling “full lez action”
of the musical kind, April 16 at The Woods.
The evening kicks off with Lez Phair, the ubiqui
tous Jenny Hoyston (Erase Errata) covering the inimi
table Liz Phair, and heart-to-Heart moments from
Sweet Flowin’ Love, featuring Erin “Beta” Leckenby,
Tasha Christiansen, Jen Agosta (Judy), Andrea John
son (DJ Yer Momm) and Caitlyn Love.
As anyone who attended last year’s Wicked Awe
some Halloween bash (or the prior year’s Fruitcake
Halloween) can attest, Portland queers take their
cover bands pretty seriously. Case in point, the main
event, Sinead O’Covers.
Led on vox by Kaia Wilson, the band includes fel
low Team Dresch alum Jody Bleyle, Hannah Blilie
(Gossip), Rachel Blumberg (Mirah, Bright Eyes),
Marisa Anderson (Dolly Ranchers) and a live string
ensemble. The band will take fans back a few decades
