The auction portion of this star-studded
benefit, emceed by sketch comedy team
SWEAT, includes a trip for two to New York
City to the world premiere o i R id o f M e, stu­
dio time, collector’s items, custom-made fur­
niture and more. VIP tickets treat patrons to
a 6 p.m. cocktail hour with hors d’oeuvres and
an intimate pre-party performance with
Storm Large, a swag bag valued at over $300
and reserved concert seating.
General admission begins at 7 p.m. and
features a red carpet entry and complimen­
tary appetizers with Westby and the cast from
the film.
VIP tickets are $150 and are limited to 30.

•The Portland Chapter of Parents, Families
and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG)
holds its monthly meeting Tuesday, April 12
from 7 to 9 p.m. at the First United Method­
ist Church (SW 18th Ave.). During the
meeting, members will screen and discuss the
film Switch: A C om m unity in Transition, which
focuses on the different roles and responsibili­
ties involved with the impact of an individual’s
gender transition.
PFIJVG Portland East County Chapter
highlights Gay-Straight Alliances (GSAs)
Monday, April 4 at 7 p.m. at the Eastrose
Unitarian Universalist Church (1133 NE
181st, Gresham). Members will listen to a
youth from a local GSA describe the school
atmosphere for LGBTQ_youth from a very
personal perspective.
On Saturday, April 23, the PFLAG Port­
land Black Chapter celebrates two years of
existence at The Local Lounge (3536 NE
Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.) from 6 to 10
p.m. The organization’s work with United
Communities over the last few months has
helped to strategically formulate and imple­
ment a plan for increasing their base and
reaching out to new community partners and
allies.

in action for a while. “Birds 6t the Bees” is
Homomentum’s final staging of the season,
and features the queer dance, burlesque, drag
and performance art that has made it a staple
of the queer arts scene in Portland.

Shazaam, ChiChi and Chonga, Drag M an­

• Portland Queer Documentary Film Festi­
val co-founder Russ Gage will provide an
update on this year’s fest Wednesday, April
13 during the Portland Area Business Asso­
ciation (PABA) April luncheon at Kell’s Irish
Restaurant 6c Pub (112 SW Second Ave.).
QDoc, now in its fifth year, will take place
June 2-5 at the Clinton Street Theater. Film
lineups are to be announced the first week of
