BRO Marriage Equality Ads
Aired on CNN
News giant CNN recently picked an ad
vertisement spot from a series produced to
promote marriage equality in Oregon to air
on Valentine’s Day. As part of a new national
campaign by Freedom to Marry, CNN aired
one of the 30-second ads throughout the day,
which featured four Oregon couples—two
gay and two straight.
The advertisement—first shown on televi
sion throughout Oregon in the summer of
2010—was originally developed by Basic
Rights Oregon as part of its ongoing public
education campaign to get Oregonians talk
ing about marriage equality.
From a press release, BRO Executive Di
rector Jeana Frazzini lauded the decision to
air the ads on Valentine’s Day, and to be part
of Freedom to M arry’s campaign.
“Valentine’s Day is a time to celebrate love
and commitment, and that’s true for all cou
ples, gay or straight,” said Frazzini. “We’re
reaching out to Oregonians to talk about the
reasons we all want to get married: We want
to publicly affirm the commitment we’ve
made to the person we love.”
