They will retain their nonprofit status in the hopes o f future endeavors. W hile revealing little as to why LM A F was closing, Prescod expressed a focus on what Tinker meant to the LGBT community and spoke to the spirit of carrying on her work through other means. “Bonnie Tinker was a fearless and fierce organizer and advocate,” said Prescod. “She and Love Makes a Family pressed our allies to become more inclusive and expansive in their vision and work, and were unafraid to speak truth to power. W hen few were able to speak up, Bonnie and LM A F became a voice for the disenfranchised and forgotten. We are proud o f our legacy and often lonely advocacy and work for LGBT equality. Love Makes a Fam ily proudly took our place with those on the margins o f society and remains committed to freedom and justice for all.
