The female- fronted act has been thrilling audiences for decades with its folk-inflected hard rock, consistendy providing a sultry and powerful counterpoint to whatever commercially viable flavor o f “women in rock” is in vogue at the time. As a result, most everyone has a memory or two with “Barracuda” or “Magic Man” as the soundtrack. Make some new memories— check out Ann and Nancy W ilson and company when H eart hits Clark C ounty’s Sleep Country A m phitheater on September 24. The W ilson sisters are currently crisscrossing the country in support of this years Red Velvet Car. The album marks a homecoming to the bands 1970s sound, leaving behind the slick Top 40 triumphs o f the ‘80s and ‘90s to return to a sound at once comfort ably familiar and bracingly urgent. As Ann W ilson puts it, “Here we are at this point in the band’s history and just like with any lifespan, the longer you love, the longer things look in back o f you— and shorter in front of you too. That sense o f perspective means that you’re much less likely to want to waste any time at all. So there’s an even greater sense o f mortality, o f the stakes involved here and an even stronger desire to make every moment on the album matter.” W ith that in mind, don’t waste time— get your tickets stat, before they surely sell out.
