[This is] my first time ever writing a letter
to the editor, but I wanted to voice a concern
I have within our local gay community and
felt this might be a good platform.
Are there any other gay fathers in Portland
that are feeling left out of the Pride events
because they are scheduled on Father’s Day
weekend? Does this seem insensitive or a
step backwards when we are working so hard
towards gay marriage and equal rights for gay
parents?
I attempt to attend and support all events
promoting equality and yet within my own
community I feel discriminated against as
a father that would love to be a part of the
Pride events that celebrate who I am. But I
cannot because I am a father first and would
feel horrible to not celebrate the weekend
with my children__
I don’t mean for my comments to create
animosity within our community but rather a
sensitivity and awareness that hopefully in the
future, the Pride committee might consider
that holding Pride on Father’s Day weekend
is not very P.C. and results in [excluding]
those of us that would otherwise love to
attend.

Brief, “NAGAAA Lawsuit Challenges
LGBT Sports Parameters”] regarding the
N A G AA A/NCLR lawsuit contains factual
errors: The RCSA Open Division has not
instituted a rule that limits participation
based on sexual orientation. Both the Open
and Women’s Division of the RCSA are fully
inclusive in their support of the LGBTQ^
community. Erroneously reporting that the
RCSA is a discriminatory entity is damaging

CORRECTIONS:
to our reputation in the community and I
would like this error corrected— In addition
it should be made clear that NAGAAA and
the RCSA are separate entities. The RCSA is
Oregon’s Gay and Lesbian Softball League,
while NAGAAA is a National Gay Softball
Organization. The RCSA is a member of
NAGAAA, but we are not a local chapter,
merely a signatory member, and we are not
bound by NAGAAA rules in operating our
league in O regon.... RCSA Open Division is
a member in good standing with NAGAAA,
and our teams are able to participate in the
NAGAAA Gay World Series despite not
mirroring the NAGAAA two heterosexual
limit per team on the local level (a mistaken
notion that was reported in your April issue).
Teams must comply with NAGAAA rules
when participating in the NAGAAA Gay
World Series, but that is outside the RCSA’s
jurisdiction to require or enforce.
