I was excited,” explained Moe. “It’s this weird mysterious drive I can’t get rid of. It’s the only thing in my life I’ve been 100 percent committed to.” M oe’s foray into entertainment began at age 16, when he acquired a handheld voice recorder and attempted his first raps, beatboxing and singing. He started record ing almost immediately but didn’t perform until he turned 18, when, while enveloped in Portland’s poetry scene, Moe assembled a three-piece band to perform live. We all know what happens when we as sume; and this, after all, is M oe’s hood. Kelly Moe has led a uniquely indepen dent— and prolific— career, releasing some 13 albums since 2001 via iTunes, C D Baby, Amazon, Rhapsody and Napster. While Moe admits that his nascent recordings aren’t his best material, his high output re mains a product o f an enormous hunger to create. “I think that in the beginning, I felt something— some kind of magic when I • IIi m •] TM i s in g le s o u rc e | s o l u t i ° ns I p rin tin g s e r v ic e s te l 5 0 3 . 2 8 1 . 8 6 6 6 • digital excellence • delivery included w w w .im p r e s s - u s a .c o m N eed Wine fo r the H o lid ay ?
