Do you know who Michel Foucault is? How about Donna Haraway? Judith Butler? These are
some of the most incisive, intelligent authors in our modem times. They have written books on top
ics like sexuality, gender, the human body and power. Some of the most influential ideas about these
topics have come from their words. And another thing: They are queer. Q Theory has started up to
talk about these queer authors, their books and their ideas.
The discussion group meets twice a month on the comfy leather couches in the front nx>m of
Q Center, 69 S.E. Taylor St. When asked why he wanted to form Q Theory, Ben Carver said: “I start
ed it out of my own personal interest. 1 thought maybe if I organize this group, people will come in and
we can all learn more together than if I stayed in and read it by myself at home." If you like interesting
discussions, this is
the place to come
on a rainy night.

not like an aca
demic study group,” Carver says. “In a college class, you’re trying to appease your teacher. But here,
you’re getting to talk about what you want to talk about, if you think it’s relevant.”
The next Q Theory meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Dec. 3. For a list of upcoming authors and
