As a lifelong Washington resident,
1 immediately recognized this image of the
Interstate 5 bridge on the Columbia River.
The photographer has done a magnificent
job capturing the contrast between nature
and industry. Both can be so beautiful in the
right light. The photo evokes memories of
me as a child waiting for the Fourth of July
fireworks display to begin while standing not
far from that very location.

I immediately identified this photograph
as the Bnxiklyn Bridge, yet the angles of the
photograph mesmerized me. To me, a Bridge
resembles numerous notions: a path leading
to a new adventure, a symbol of a city and
a platform for transportation. 1 wonder if the
photographer was attempting to photograph
an actual assignment or if the mission
evolved into a random, adventure-filled
day. As an avid traveler, I appreciate this
suspension bridge that offers travelers and
its citizens so much!
