Survey Says...A Gay Twist on a Classic Game Show The classic game show Family Feud gets a new twist as several of Portland’s most popular gay bars— Scandals, Silverado and C.C. Slaughters—take each other on in the first-ever Family Feud Bar Wars The competition was the brainchild of Bolivia “Dawson” Carmichaels, who began hosting semi weekly Family Feud games a few months ago at Slaughters using a simple set. She was then approached by Scandals manager Andy Miller, who suggested an inter-bar competition. Each participating bar will assemble a team com posed of employees and regular customers. The game will resemble the television show and use sim ilar questions, but Carmichaels and her friends have built a snazzy, lighted set that is sure to enliven the festivities. “We wanted to create a way for the bars to work together and have fun,” says Carmichaels, a popular female impersonator who has an established follow ing. “The initial concept really caught on, and people had a good time. Best of all, it was a way for everyone to work together and just have a good time.” The events will be co-hosted by Miss Gay Oregon XXXIV Mylar Black. Here is the official schedule: • Dec. 3: Scandals vs. Silverado at Slaughters, Bolivia Carmichaels hosts Family Feud Bar 219 N.W.
