Submissions cannot be accepted over the phone Please type your announcements and include full contact information Drama junkie drowns in a small and polluted pond D ear M s . B ehavior : Last year 1 got hot for Hildie, an older woman at work. It was all going fine, though 1 knew she had an ex who was still in the pic ture, this other woman named Sari. Sometimes Hildie got sick of being with me and would go be with Sari. This made me feel sick inside, so I tried to stay away. Usually at some point at work, Hildie would come back around to me and 1 couldn’t resist her, so we would start hooking up again. Recently 1 met Sari, through other friends. BY MERYL COHN I see her pretty regularly at this bar where 1 hang out. Anyway, she is now interested in me. She keeps asking me over to her place. I am tempted to go and hook up with Sari, though 1 know this will make Hildie mad. But right now Hildie isn’t with me or with Sari, so maybe there’s no harm? Do you have advice? —MM Ms. Behavior D ear MM: Listen up, you giant black hole of lesbian drama. Way back, when you were a tiny little nematode, your mother told you to keep your paws away from the stove. Did you listen? Nah. Perhaps you crawled around with burned and bandaged hands. Maybe your mother said, “1 told you so.” Will you be able to hear suggestions about how to handle your sex triangle? Unlikely, since it sounds like you thrive on this type of intrigue. You have to be willing to give up the thrill of conquest, loss, despair, etc. It might feel like a lot to give up. You say you’re tempted to hook up with Sari though you “know it will make Hildie mad.” But actually, the real reason you want to hook up with Sari is because it will make Hildie mad. There will be no real satisfaction in this for you, however, because Sari is using you to stimulate Hildie s interest in her. Once Sari gets a reac tion from Hildie, they’ll get back together and you’ll be discarded. That’s the small picture. The bigger picture is that you chose this. You need to ask yourself why. The bottom line is that you seem to be swimming in a small and polluted pond. Climb out of the swampy water and look around. The need for drama comes from inside you, but if you can extract yourself from this situation, you might be able to make different choices. D ear M s . B ehavior : 1 belong to a gay bridge club that meets regularly at different people’s homes. Last time, at my apartment, there was a low turnout, only eight of us. After the game, I noticed some small items were missing from my bathroom: some fancy soaps, some expensive hair products and two tiny paintings that have sentimental value. Should I send an e-mail to the people who attended the bridge game, asking them if they know what happened to these items? Or should I send a note to the entire list describing what happened and who was in attendance to warn others who trustingly open up their homes to this group? 1 feel like 1 have to quit the group, so 1 don’t care if people get mad at me. My friends think I should call each of the eight people singly and ask them if they stole the items, but I doubt they’d confess, so what would be the point? —Trumped D ear T rumped : No one is going to admit to having stolen your bathroom booty. Bridge players bluff well and thieves are g
