Beverly D. Patterson (left) and Staci T.
Lutes of Battle Ground, Wash., were legally
wed Nov. 26 in Vancouver, British Colum
bia. The union was witnessed by their four
children, Dazmon, 12, Krystin, 11, Brook,
10, and Jessie 6 ; close friends Michelle
Neely and Erick Sears; and God.
Patterson attended H ug High School in
Reno, Nev., and is employed by the U .S .
Postal Service. Lutes attended Battle
Ground High School.
The couple have been together “ since real
izing that life is much more beautiful together
and that we are literally the perfect fit,” they
told Just Out. “ We would like to offer a spe
cial thanks to our parents Vicki Jackson and
Ken Lutes for understanding why we waited
to tell them until the ‘deed was done’ and to
two of our siblings, Teresa Jackson and Roy
Lutes, for not telling our parents— at least
until after the ceremony. The commitment of
our hearts and souls and the legal recognition
in British Columbia were cause for much cel
ebration, but with each step forward in the
fight for marriage equality, there is another
celebration in our hearts and home.”
A reception is tentatively planned for
November.
