My only critique of O blation is their decid
edly hetero focus, with wedding cards and baby
shower announcem ents abounding— none
with two sweethearts of the same sex. Gender-
neutral cards will have to suffice until some
of you entrepreneurial queer card designers
get down there and get yourselves on the
roster!

I chose a box of eight cards and
envelopes by Two Piglets Press that has a
pink letterpressed image of a sliced loaf of
bread and an arrow pointing to it indicating
“fruitcake.’’ U nderneath it says simply,
“Happy Holidays.”
Paper, paper, paper price varies
T he shelves are also packed with journals,
photo albums, invitations, stickers and doo
dads. But the crowning glory of this
store is the paper itself, sold in
sheets. You could wrap a present in
it, make a book, cover a box or
simply make it a scroll for decla
rations of love or wisdom. The
colors and designs are luscious—
golden bees on cornflower blue
rice paper ($5), Japanese-style
fabric paper ($9), old-fashioned
bingo cards printed on a low-gloss
paper ($4).
