gles of Hawaii’s indigenous people, Ke
Kulana He Mahu features interviews with
writers, performers, educators, religious leaders
and activists, shedding light on the negative
influences of Western culture on this part of the
world. As Western religion gave rise to homo
phobia in high Hawaii, the sacred Mahu
(androgynous or trans) in the ancient culture of
the Kanaka Maoli has been destroyed. As they
attempt to regain what has been lost, the public
might learn by their example the tme meaning
of unconditional love and community solidarity.
