degree from Gal-

D.C. A fter moving
to Portland in 1947, he received a state o f O re
gon Certified Public A ccountant Certificate.
Almost completely deaf since age 6 and an
expert lip reader, Stack began signing the m orn
ing news updates on KGW-TV in 1971, long
before the advent of closed-captioning technol
ogy. His reports provided thousands of deaf O re
gonians with critical information.
He taught at Portland Community College

Stack was one of
seven gay and les
bian seniors saluted during the Portland Gay
M en’s Chorus Vintage Voices concerts in March.
The Oregon School for the Deaf honored him
with a Lifetime Achievement Award in May.
He is survived by his daughters, Sharon,
Kelly Magee and Holly.
Services will he held 4 p.m. Aug. 3 at Wash
ington School for the Deaf’s Lloyd Auditorium,
611 Grand Blvd. in Vancouver.

loved to identify on his
many hikes. He enjoyed
hanging out at Gail’s Dirty
Duck Tavern and drinking

He is survived by his
partner, Jeff Richard of
Portland; father, Walter W.
of N orth Andover, Mass.;
and numerous other friends and relatives.

was held July 26 at his home. In lieu of flowers,

cookbook. His family asks that

recipe that he prepared for you
or that you prepared for him
along with the story of the

in his memory.

Elliott Jeffrey; father, Gary C. o f G reat Falls;
and mother, Barbara L. Bartell of Tucson.
Services were held July 26 at First United
M ethodist C hurch. Remembrances may be
made to the Jeffrey Scott Williamson Memorial

I died of AIDS July 12 in
Tucson, Ariz. He was 32.
He was horn Jan. 31, 1970,
in Great Falls, Mont., where he
lived until he was 8. He then
moved to Helena, Mont.
W illiamson
was
an
exchange student in Brazil
during his junior year of high
school. He was a state champi
on in speech in the humorous
oral interpretation category.
He worked as a group
home leader, a salesman at a
large department store and a
manager of a paper store while attending Lewis
& Clark College in Portland. During his profes
sional career he was a Web site marketer, a sales
manager for a luxury transportation company, a
marketing director for a telecommunications
networking company and a caterer.
Williamson will be remembered for his late-
night seven-course meals. He loved to spend the

land surrounded by loved ones.
He was 54.
He was bom Sept. 17, 1947,
in Passaic, N.J., to Walter W. and
Mildred Goller. He resided in
Bloomfield, N.J., until he left to
attend Michigan State Universi
ty, where he earned a degree in
forestry. He then moved to O re
gon to work as a forester, mostly
for the U.S. Forest Service.
G oller became aware he was
gay while living in Oakridge and
moved to Portland in 1976. He
scxsn got a job as a mail handler for the U.S.
Postal Service, where he worked for 20 years.
In 2001, he was diagnosed with colon cancer.
He survived much longer than predicted
because he kept himself in good shape.
Goller was known as a very stoic man whose
