lmost 400 volunteer slots need to be filled
before Portland Pride 2002, which will
take place June 15 and 16. Shifts range from
three hours to all day.
Several types of volunteers are sought to
cover the stage, parade, festival and security.
People also are needed before Pride weekend to
help make calls and fill time slots.

communities in 85 countries will partici­
pate May 19 in the 19th International AIDS
Candlelight Memorial.
A vigil will begin 8 p.m. on the steps of the
state Capitol in Salem. Attendees are asked to
bring their candles, their friends and their
memories of those who have passed from
HIV/AIDS.
In Ashland, a memorial and mobilization
will be held 7 p.m. at the Lithia Park Bandshell.
Organizers and participants include OnTrack’s
Alan Collins A ID S Project, the Jackson Coun­
ty Health Departments HIV Division and the
Rogue Valley Gay Men’s Chorus.
