More (and creator of his original recipe sweet
potato cheesecake).
Thompson, who volunteers for many local
groups, started his home-based busi
ness with “the support of friends who
provide unconditional love and never
ask for anything in return,” he says.
Operating out of his fully licensed
and inspected Northeast Portland
apartment, Thompson turns out such
goodies as Black Forest brownie,
peach melba cheesecake, lemon twist
cheesecake and assorted tortes and
muffins by the dozen. Each order is
individually prepared with devotion
and backed by years of experience.
Thompson’s passion for cooking
hails from family tradition, though his
specialty— sweet potato cheesecake—
is nontraditional and not a part of his
African American heritage. It is,
nonetheless, very appealing.
Thompson takes individual and
wholesale orders, and ultimately
hopes to make enough profits to give
some of the proceeds back to the
