Many of us do battle with bigots and strive to educate the larger society in which we live. Some of us spend our work lives in closets; others have made an uneasy peace with a “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy. For these reasons and more, our homes take on an added function—as a place where we can be truly authentic and express our uniqueness without censorship.
