Hopewell Apartments—a planned Portland resi
dence serving people with HIV and/or mental
illness— is on the verge of opening. Portland
Mayor Vera Katz is scheduled to dedicate the $1
million complex on March 25 at noon.

Located in Southwest Portland’s Hillsdale
neighborhood on a knoll overlooking EMO’s
Hopewell House campus, the 12-unit residence
features fully equipped one- and two-bedroom
apartments.
A resident manager will provide program ser
vices such as care coordination, advocacy, social
activities and emergency assistance.
In addition to services provided by on-site
staff, EMO and the Network hope to offer other
services such as counseling, medical referral,
support groups, nutrition services and language
translation.
The project is being funded through grants
totaling nearly $800,000 from the U.S. Depart-
mentof Housing and Urban Development. Supple
mental funding has come from the Oregon Hous
ing Trust Fund and Portland Development Com
mission.
