Dec. 10. 1924: In Illinois, Henry Gerber
incorporates the Society for Human Rights,
America's first known gay group Gerber
had lived in Germany and was inspired by
the gay movement there But Chicago was
another matter Gerber and other officers
were promptly arrested, Gerber lost his job,
and the Society soon disbanded.
