Klamath Falls resident Michael Clark is a
recipient of a 1995 Pride Foundation Scholarship.
The Seattle-based Pride Foundation, which claims
to be the nation’s largest gay and lesbian commu
nity foundation, provides scholarships to “build
self-esteem, promote diversity and support hu
man rights.”
Clark, an Oregonian, and 10 Washingtonians,
were selected from a field of 170 applicants.
Recipients will receive awards ranging from
$1,000 to $2,000 to assist with their educational
expenses.
According to the Pride Foundation, Clark plans
to attend Southern Oregon State College to pur
sue teaching English and music. Clark was se
lected because he “challenged his school to re
spond to the threats of Oregon Ballot Measure
13.”
Since 1987, the Pride Foundation has granted
more than $600,000 to projects that strengthen the
gay and lesbian community.
