Gay and lesbian
program to air locally
Hear the Stonewall
march live!
In the Life is the first national gay and lesbian
series to run on the Public Broadcasting System.
The program is now being shown on over 60 PBS
stations around the country.
O n W ednesday, June 22, O PB plans to air
one ep iso d e o f the series, at 10:30 pm , follow ing
a docu m en tary on S tonew all. O PB currently
has no plans to run the program s on a regular
basis.
It goes w ithout saying that the station will
receive com plaints from view ers objecting to In
the Life. It is im portant that the queer com m unity
show its approval and support for m ainstream
stations that show lesbian- and gay-oriented

KBOO 90.7 FM presents live coverage o f
Stonewall 25: The International M arch on the
United Nations to A ffirm the H um an Rights of
Lesbian and G ay People on Sunday, June 26.
Coverage is from 10:30 am until 5 pm.
This will be a live broadcast o f the m arch in
New York City which com m em orates the 25th
anniversary o f the Stonewall riots, w here gay men
and lesbians openly and collectively resisted po­
lice aggression. The riots are credited with giving
rise to the m odem queer rights m ovem ent.
The march is about visibility. Our increased
visibility may seem to increase the violence and
hatred directed towards us, but it is this same visibil­
ity which will ultimately guarantee our full rights as
human beings. Tune in and celebrate with KBOO.
