T.J. Myers
Feb. 7,1960— Aug. 28,1990
Charismatic heartthrob of the a cappella
group The Flirtations, lead dancer with the
Rachel Lam pert Dance Company and organiza
tional whiz kid of the Gay Men’s Health Crisis,
Terryl Joseph "T.J.” Myers died peacefully of
complications due to AIDS on Aug. 28.
A singer, dancer, actor, choreographer,
producer, teacher, designer and adventurer—
T.J. was a man of boundless talent and energy.
There was seemingly nothing he couldn’t do,
nothing he couldn’t make happen. He had the
quickest mind I’ve ever seen. And there was
nothing he loved more than a challenge.
His unexpected death left behind an army of
friends, relatives and acquaintances: his lover
Michael; his brother Randy and Randy’s lover
Jimmy Mello; his mother Shirley, his three
sisters and one other brother (all in Iowa);
Rachel Lampert and countless dance partners,
students and choreographers with whom he
worked through the years; the “FABulous
Flirts” (as he used to call them, his voice
soaring) with whom he created something that
transcended the sum of their lives; scores of co
workers at GMHC; and thousands of friends
and fans across the country.
The family requests that memorial contribu
tions be made to the Univ. of Iowa Dance Dept,
or an appropriate AIDS organization. Dona
tions will be collected by The Flirtations: PO
Box 421, Prince Street Station, NYC, 10012-
0008.

Ace Henry Morrical
Sept. 22,1961-Aug. 7 , 1990
Ace Henry Morrical died of complications
related to AIDS on Aug. 7 in a Portland
hospital at the age of 28.
A memorial for Mr. Morrical of Northeast
Portland was held on Aug. 12 at his home.
Bom Sept. 22, 1961 in New Jersey, Ace
moved to Oregon as a young child, and
graduated from Corvallis High School. He was
a graduate of Albany Beauty School, and had
lived in the Portland area for the past 10 years.
Mr. Morrical recently earned his teaching
certificate, and had planned to teach in addition
to operating Hair Devine by Ace in northeast
Portland. When it became too much for him to
run his own business, he worked part time at
DeLoux, a hair salon on Northeast Sandy Blvd.
He became disabled at the end of May, but
continued to work on special clients at home,
doing the work he loved.
Also known as “Brandy,” Mr. Morrical was
a skilled female impersonator who had
performed at various clubs around the city.
Several years ago he ran for Miss Gay Oregon.
Drag was the love of his life, and he was
believable in his female role playing.
He is survived by his sister, Regina Henry
of Portland, and by his adopted family which
includes Meg MacBean, Sweeney Ellis, Brian
Smith, Opal Yansky, and many beloved friends.
Disposition was by cremation and a private
ceremony was held at the beach by his closest
friends.
Contributions to Cascade AIDS Project or
other organizations to help people with AIDS
may be made in his name.
