The congressman has met only once with representatives of the lesbian and gay community, and that meeting occurred only be cause the Rev. Last October, the congress man returned to Portland on the weekend of the March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights. When asked by a Just Out reporter for his views on the March, the congressman said he was not aware of it. Isn’t it time for the 3rd Congressional District to be represented by a person who listens to the people who vote for him or her? Does the con gressman emulate Ernestine’s employer and think “ I don’t have to” ? Or is the congressman suffering from internalized homophobia?
