Times Square— United States, 1980
Robert Stigwood, producer of Saturday
Night Fever, produced this music-filled story
about two teenage runaways who find each
other on the streets of New York. Times Square
has become a cult film for gay and lesbian
audiences, and features songs by The Talking
Heads, The Ramones, Patti Smith, The Cure,
Lou Reed, Roxy Music and The Pretenders.
Vera— Brazil, 1986
Director Sergio Toledo explores the personal
crisis of a woman with conflicting sexual
identification, using the contemporary
symbolism of being literally at odds with one’s
life. Toledo has worked with Hector (Kiss o f the
Spider Woman) Babenco.
Novembermoon — West Germany/France,
1984.
Story of a relationship between two
women that survives under political pressures
of German-occupied France in 1940. After
November is arrested by the Gestapo, she
manages to escape back to her French lover in

rarely seen in the movies.
Two in Twenty (1 ,2 ,3 )— United States, 1987
The first three episodes of the world’s first
lesbian soap opera promise to thrill and delight.
Boston producer and originator. Laurel Chiten
says, “ Women have been saying for years that
we ought to do a soap opera . . . Our lives are
such soap opera.” Slick, gritty, serious and fun.
Cast of characters includes a mother fighting for
custody of her teenager, a seductive rock star
who intrigues every woman who passes, a
medical student who tends to an AIDS patient, a
“ baby dyke” searching for identity, a therapist
who suffers from unresolved conflicts.

attack institutions of medical science which
