Eugene photographer David Joyce. The
event, free and open to the public, begins
at 8:00 pm , at the Northwest Artists
W orkshop.

Slid e Talk Program , sponsored by North­

The osear winning documentary "The
Tim e s of Harvey M ilk " uses interviews and
archival and news film to record the c o lli­
sion course between the San Francisco
supervisor and his colleage Dan White,
lead ing to a fatal conclusion. C ritics
hailed the film as an important record of
contem porary history, tracing the rise to
power, p olitica l career and assassination
of the nation's first openly homosexual
elected public official.

pioneering achievements they have

on the changing role of women in Nicara­
gua w ill be featured at a meeting of Radi­
cal Women. The S a n d in ista s and
W om en. Guest speaker fem inist activist
Chayatha Phelps w ill discuss the impact
of the revolution on women in the fam ily
and the labor force, and as leaders in
b uild ing a new society. Be at the M ult­

The C harlie Murphy-Jam ie Sieber Band
w ill perform in Portland to celebrate The
A llia n c e 's fifth year and to help raise funds
for the social change networking
organization.
The birthday party-fundraiser w ill take
place at the Echo Theater, 1515 SE 37th,
b eginning at 9 pm. It w ill take the form of a
dance concert, with the M urphy/Sieber
Band playing their polyrhythmic synthesis
of rock, folk, reggae and new wave. The
Seattle-based band is becom ing in­
crea sing ly known as a group that merges
a highly danceable beat with lyrics that
speak eloquently to current social and
p o litic a l concerns.
Tickets for the birthday party-fundraiser
are $6 at the door or $5 in advance. Ticket
