SPIRITUAL HEALIN G My lifestyle conflicted greatly with the things I was taught... Gay life lost its appeal. by Dennis Peterson It was a pleasure to meet Gary Brockett The Spirit of the Lord shot from his eyes and flashed from his teeth. Although I’m not re ligious, I enjoy watching someone who can “wear their love like heaven.” A friend told me G ary’s story of how Jesus had brought him back from a gay life, and I thought it would be refreshing to hear from the other side for a change. Here’s a chance for us to love another "neighbor" like ourselves. DP Tell me about your denomination. GB I was brought up in the Church of God in C h rist When I moved to Portland six years ago, that was all I knew. I left it because I had a lot of doubts stemm ing from m y homosexu ality. I decided to go out explore m y sexuality, and see what happened. But after six years I realized I wasn’t happy, wasn’t satisfied. My lifestyle conflicted greatly with the things I was taught which of course didn’t mean any thing at the time because I was so involved in the gay world. G ay life lost its appeal.
