Head quarters of the Land department,
will hereafter he located at Portland.
Mr. V. II. Armstrong, United States
Railroad Commissioner, his assistant
Mr. William M. Thompson, and party
have arrived, and are now examining
the different branches and main line
divisions of the Northern Pacific.
At Spokane Falls no children at
tended school in 18S1. This year the
number exceeds two hundred.
There is a brisk demand for carpen
ters at pokane ! alls.
