Godward spent Sunday afternoon in
Medford.
Mr. and Mr«.Frank Sauisberry return­
ed the first of the week from Port-
I and where they spent several days
A fire was started in the brush
fifty yards from Gagnons saw mill on
Jackson creek Saturday afternoon,
presumably trom a spark from the
logging engine.
The blaze was
finally extinguished by volunteer fight­
ers but not before it had burned
over about five acres. The fire was
discovered by one of the airplanes of
the forest patrol.
Jacksonville people in
Medford
Tuesday included Peter Fick, Mrs
James Rock Jr, Miss
Katherine
Johnson, W. G. Kinney, L. H. Nied-
• ermeyer and Chester Wendt.
The attendance at the weekly band
concert in Medford Wednesday night
was lighter owing to ths chilly and
threatening weather. Only a few con­
certs remain to be given this season
which is greatly regretted as the
music has been excellent and greatly
enjoyed by valley people.
Mrs. 1. D. Knight and daughters
Daisy and Irene were in Medford
Thursday afternoon.
The threshing machine and crew
have finally reached this corner of
the valley and have been engaged in
threshing grain for Charles Nunan,
Peter Fick and the Wendt brothers.
Mrs Jasten Hartman was shopping
in Medford Thursday morning.
The Medford P03t of the American
Legion of which a number of our
towns-people are members are giving
a grand bill on Labor Day Sept. 6th
the day the aviation field is to be dedi­
cated.
Mrs T. W. Fulton and daughters
Barbara and Phillis spent Tues lay
afternoon in Medford where small
Phyllis was receiving medical attention
for a fractured collar bone.
Mrs Joseph Applebaker and small
son, Lewis, were in Medford Saturday
afternoon.
Jerome Hilbert retiring supt. of
the Blue Lodge mine passed thro town
on his way to Medford to attend Elks
Lodge Thursday evening. Mr Hilbert
expects to leave soon for Mexico and
his position as supt. at the Blue
Ledge will be filled by W. B. Robin­
son.

James J. Donegan, of Harney coun­
ty, is a guest of Mr. and Mrs. Mike
Hanley and other friends. Mr. Donegan
was raised at Jacksonville but left
several years ago. He says the people
of eastern Oregon are very anxious to
be connected with Medford with a good
road via the Klamath Falls country to
Pelican Bay, Lake of the Woods and
Fish lake, and would come here to
trade if the road between these places
was connected and it would only take
about eight miles of road to do it. The
Chamber of Commerce should look into
this proposition.—Tribune
