THE EUROPEAN WAR
As we go to press, all signs point to a general Euro
pean war; Austria-Hungary has declared war upon Ser-
via and actual fighting has begun, Russia is backing up I
Servia and is mobilizing her army; Germany is support- j '

are lined up behind Russia.
The effect of the war news was immediate both in i
Europe and America, causing a sudden slump in financial

circles, as a result of which all stock exchanges and sim |
ilar institutions in both hemispheres have been closed in j I
order to avoid a world-wide panic. What the outcome j
will be is imposible to foretell.
