JIMr. Marvin, a mining engineer of
Gold Hill was in town Thursday, look­
ing up the title to certain mining
claims and water rights.
F. W. Mears, Esq. of Medford was
in town Wednesday on business in
connection with several cases which he
is conducting in the circuit court.
The friends of Mr. Mears have been
insisting that he be a candidate for
nominatior. on the Redublican ticket
for Representative, and it is stated
that he has consented. We predict
his nomination and election.
A very pleasant surprise was sprung
on Rev. C. IL Johnston Tuesday even­
ing, when about seventy-five members
of his congregation, and friends, in­
vaded the M. E. parsonage and for a
few hours held the reverend gantle-
man and family in durance. The oc­
casion was the forty-fourth anniversary
of Mr. Johnston’s birth, theevening was
spent very pleasantly in social converse,
games, and music, both vocal and
instrumental.
