THE ROSEBURGERS
The Rogue River Valley R. R.
has provided a room for the accommo-
| dation of passengers, equipped with an
electric light. A more equal freight
ra'e and a uniform paseanger rate.
These results were the work of the
j P ost in exposing the company.
Two more, possibly more, have been
accorded a rate of 12K cents for the
trip to Medford, the railroad commission
requires that all railroads within their
control charge one rate to all. If the
i R. R. V. R. R. will cany one
man for 12J<cents why do they charge
25 cents for those who are not in the
ring.
If a business man was operating this
railroad how many freight teams would
be seen on the road? Some people
were obliged to pay ohe freifht rate
and others would have an entirely dif
ferent rate. There is no question in
the matter, the railroad can carry
freight cheaper than a freight team
but they charge more and deliver the
goods in a pooer condition.
Thd question of violating the state
law is a secondary consideration and
little or no attention is given the law.
We must have a depot, a lower pas
senger rate between this city and Med
ford, an equal freight rate and better
servace. The company will carry a
ton of freight for some people for the
same price they charge others for a
small package.
