OUR GROWTH
OFFICE HINTS
Never send articles for publication
without giving thy name, for thy
name uiurii secures publication of a
worthless articles.
Thou shouldst not rap at the door
of a printing office, for he that hear-
eth the rap sneereth in his sleeves and
looseth time.
Thou shouldst never read the copy
on the printer’s case or sharp and
hooked container thereof, or he may
knock you down.
Never inquire of the editor the news,
for behold it is his business to give it
to thee at the apointed time without
asking for it.
It is not right that thou should ask
him who is the author of an article,
for it is his duty to keep such things
to himself.
When thou dost enter his office, take
heed of thyself that thou dost not
look at what may concern thee not,
for that is not met in the sight of
good breeding.
OUR NEXT SENATOR
The next Oregon assembly will have
a very important matter to consider—
the election of a United States senator.
The election of Governor Chamberlain
to the U. S. senate this winter would
mean thatOregon would have one mem
ber. Because the governor received
more votes at the last election than
his republican opponent does not sig
nify that he should be considered any
more than T. T. Geer was six years
ago. Geer received the vote of the
people and was defeated in the legis-
lature.
The November election was evidence
that the state is strongly republican
and if the June election wan fair the
electors were misinformed.. The Nov
ember election gave Taft 62,530 and
Bryan 38,049. With this strong repub
lican following could a republican as
sembly send a democrat to the U. S.
senate and feel as though they were
carrying out the desire of the people?
I am afraid not
A United States senator should be
elected by the people direct As it is
much valuable time is wasted ‘‘organ
izing’’ and voting for a senator. If
this time was spent in enacting laws
that would be of benefit to the people
Oregon would be better off.

Beware of Frequent Colds.
A succession of colds or a protract

chronic catarrh, from which few per

may avoid this disagreeable disease.
How can you cure a cold? Why not
try Chamberlain’s Cough Remedy?
It is highly recommended. Mrs. M.
