Jacksonville Post OFFICIAL PAPER OF THE CITY OF JACK SONVILLE. OREGON Publiahed every Saturday by the Post Pub lishing Co. J. B. Barne«, Editor Admitted as second-class matter a) 'Jacksonville, Oregon. SATURDAY, JUNE 13. 1908. SUBSCRIPTION One year, by mail $1.50. AN IDEAL SPOT FOR GRAPES Jacksonville reposes at the very feet of one of the finest grape producing belts of the world: with vast stretches of undeveloped soil awating the oncom ing of those who choose an ideal spot where wealth and happiness is awating the sturdy hand of the vineyardist; we offer weather conditions unequaled by any othersection of this favored Pacific coast. The grape grown on the hills surrounding Jacksonville might reason ably be railed the Jacksonville Tokay, for nowhere can be found the delicious flavor and the large flaming sphere that is annually marketed from the hillsides of our city. Our soil and cli mate is adapted to any variety of grap es, the concord, mission, sweet water, Deleware. in fact any variety thrives here but the tokay brings the best price in the market and the yield is as heavy if not heavier than any other variety. The JacksonvilleTokay is pronounced, by commission men to be the best grape on the market, and, it is claimed, our grape commands a higher price than the same variety grown elsewhere. This is not due to advertising, as same may suggest, but on the merits of the article because our grapes have never been advertised. We have vast strips of uncleared land awating the apperance of progressive men. We have a climate sweet and refreshing where the cyclone and blizzard are un- j known. Protect Your Town. Proto*t your ow i town and threeby show that you are in favor of protec tion. If protection is good for the na tion it is good for the town. As towns people we-shou!d favor our town above every other as the growth and devel opment of it is what will enhance the value of all property both in and about it. Then buy your drygoods, grocer ies, hardware, furniture, etc., at home; have your printing, your blacksmith ing, your shoe-making done at home; patronize home in every instance that you can. The success of our mer chants and mechanics means new busi ness houses and residences, additional demands for labor of various kinds- To the farmers a first-class town af fords a better m irket. for his grain, a h '"ter trading point, and such a town 's hound to inereso the value of his I ind.
