My best bet is that if Senator Chamberlain was
a candidate for re-election this year he wouldn't
have introduced that compulsory boy military bill
at this stage of the gamefor the women wouldn't
have done a thing to him. Benton County Cou

Perhaps the senator thinks that he will be able
to live it down in nearly six years and that when
he gets the smile and handshake to working
again, all will be forgotten.

Herbert Nelson son of Mrs
A. A. Nelaon, won the dollar
check offered by the Monitor for
the numl er of "e" in the Christ
mas ads in last week's insup.
Herbert did not have the correct
number but was nearer than
all the others. In all 36 boys
and Rirls guessed at it, several
missing the right number by sev
eral hundred.
This week The Monitor staff
takes a short vacation, the only
time ws are not on the job at all
hours and all times. December
is a very important month in the
editor's family that is, me and
my wife and no more. All of us
were born in Decsmber, weaned
in December, wooed in Decem
ber and married in December.
So it is excusable if we take a day
off and properly celebrate.
