    A PRETTY WEDDING
A very pretty home wedding
was solemnized at Dallas Sunday
by Kev. Bennett when Miss Em
roy McDevitt wag united in mar
riage to J. H. Hibbs at the home
of the brides parents, Mr. and
Mrs. McDevitt.
The wedding, a rin? ceremony
was very impressive. The bride
wore a beautiful embroidered
gown and carried a boquet of
rosea.
Mr. and Mrs. Hibbs were
among the most popular of the
younger set in Independence and
have a host of friends who wish
for them a happy journey
through life. The groom is the
junior member of the J. D. Hibbs
& Co, firm of this place.
immediately following the
wedding the young couple left for
Newport to spend a few days
honeymoon. They will be at
home to their Independence
friends after Nov. 24.

The beautiful hall of the I. O.
0. F. was a scene of novel enter
tainment Tuesday evening when
Mr. and Mrs. W. . Craven were
given a tin shower, the occasion
being their tenth wedding anni
versary. Mrs. Craven is the
Noble Grand of the Rebekah
lodge of this city, and after the
lodge had closed the evenings
entertainment was carried out.
M. Merwin was the principal par
ticipant in the remarriage cere
mony. The shower was complete
and plenty of amusement was
added to make all merry.
A "Christma Shop" will
be held by the lad ins of the
Presbyterian and Christian
churches in the opera house,
Tuesday afternuou and even
ing, Dec, 5th. This will be
a noo . time to ptircha-e use
ful, and appropriate gifts for
