Co. Library System Wins
The Independence library
board consisting o f Mrs. J.
S. Cooper, Mrs. C. D. Cal-
! rcath, Mrs. Clyde Ecker,
H. Hirschberg and A. L.
Thomas met Miss Marvin,
s’ ate librarian, the Dallas
board, representatives from
Monmouth, Falls City, Eola,
Perry dale and West Salem
in Dallas last Tuesday. The
representatives went before
the
county
court
in
behalf
o f the proposed
county library system. The
< iurt readily granted a levy
of two-tenths o f a mill
which will be put in the
county budget. It was hop
ed to get three-tenths o f a
mill but two-tenths was all
t he court had at its disposal
and the representatives felt
very grateful for this allow
ance. Miss Marvin stated
that she believed we could
have the use of about 500
volumes of technical books
from the state library which
would be of great assistance
in making the change.
