Independence singers and patri­
otic citizens joined with millions of
other singers in the National Com­
munity Sing Tuesday evening.
The crowd congregated on the
Williams Drug Co. corner and thru
Mr. Williams’ kindness, one of his
handsome pianos was used for the
occasion, Miss Opal McDevitt play
ing. The patriotic airs included
“America" and the "Star Spangled
Banner.” The singing was led by
Mrs. G. W. Conkey while the Stars
and Stripes floated in the breezes.
While the old Liberty Bell in
Philadelphia pealed one stroke for
every state in the Union, patriotic
Independence felt that it was com­
plying with the nation wide
movement and keeping apace with
the spirit of the times.

MARTIN PRATHER MARRIES
