The Newberg Graphic pays that Char
ley Hudson arrived home from his trip
east on last Tuesday bringing with him
12 head of Snort Horn and Jersey cattle,
ono Poland China and two Jersey Red
hogs. He visited many of the best
breeding farms in Iowa, Indiana and
Illinois, and was somewhat amazed at
the amount of money that is fating paid
out in those states for blooded stock. In
Henry county, Indiana, he visited with
three of his brothers and had a general
good time. Of the stock he bronchi
back Andy Winters get" two fine Short
Horn heifers, J. C. MoCrea a bull and
beifer and Mr. McKay across the river a
bull and heifer, all bhort Horns, while
Thos. Smith, north of town gets a Jersey
cow and J. L. Hoskn s will probably
take a Sereey heifer. Jasper Smith of
Tillamook county also takes two cows.

Our strtt'ts are in very good condition,
yet, I would recommend that a grade lie
established ou main street, from the
bridge to the south line of the city, and
that there be constructed, on either side
of the street, a sewer or waste to carry
off 'the water, and' placet fixed at the
intersection of the sewers, that are now
in place, to receive all such water; aliio
thut as fast as enws walks are worn out
they be replaced with cement instead ol
lumber.
I would recommend that the strictest
economy he exercised in sll matters per
taining to the city that may Ihi in kee
ing with our lt interest, and that sueh
levy be made as will reduce our Indebt
edness as much as may he, without lay
ing loo much burden iion the taxpayer.

occasion to investigate the hop and

famous sections of Auschtt and

and marketing of hops, that this
year sold for 125 mark per cenlner
or 110 pounds, or more than 28
cents per pound. His investiga
tions in this lino ate believed to
have been qui to as successful or at
least as promising of success in in
tho line of prunes. For the present
however, tho matter is not public,

of the dogs. The dog that was killed j
