An itinerant dog show was the at
traction on Main street Wednesday
afternoon. There were dog of high and
low degree, all more or less educated.
As the show was free the street was
jammed, every school boy in town be
ing in evidence besides those who were
school boys many years ago. A little
brown dog jumped from a forty-foot
ladder on to a canvas alighting safely.
In making the ascent, though, he fell
backwards, tumbling down the ladder
end over end. but he bravely went back.
In the evening performance, Mayor
Ketchum forbid the owner sending the
little dog up the ladder and this feature
was omitted, to the relief and delight of
many ladies.

A fellow giving his name a Henry
Kuhly was arrested Friday morning at
Kola on a charge of stealing a team of
horse (mm Arthur Allen, a farmer re
tiding near Philomath. W. W, Lilies,

arrest, The hunted man made an effort
to use a rifle when halted, but the of
ficer' revolver caused him to change
hi mind and he surrendered.

hack on Thursday afternoon at Corvallf.

seen the stranger pas here driving the
stolen team, started In pursuit, over
hauling the fellow In West Salem, when
he promptly made the arrest but had to

She was the mother of seven children
consisting of John W Henry II., Sher
man K., Jane and Orpiua M. Iemmon,
Mrs. Delia Murphy and .Mrs. fcklora
Lemmons, all living.
Hie was married in lnon to hlilah
Lemmon, be died n 1870 she was re
married in 1883 to Win. Darned who
remains to mourn tier loss.
She waa converted and united with
the Cumberland Presbyterian church in
IHoo of which church she remained a
devoted member until death. Her
icknss lasted, with a good deal of pain,
through several months jet she patient
ly bore all neither murmuring nor com
plaining when death came she was re-
leved and passed to Iter reward
Loving hands had most kindly and
affectionately done all for her comfort
that could lie done, and after death
tenderly laid her in the grave to await
the resurrection. The funeral sermon
was preached by Rev. J. It. Baldwin
from Revelations 14 chapter and 15th
verse "Blessed are the dead." etc.

age of 62 years. The funeral took place
next day the interment being on the
