A unique and entertaining can tata, entitled "The Kingdom of Mother Goose," will be given in the Normal chapel Saturday even ing May 19th, by the children of the Model School. All who attend will be more than delighted with the performance of the little people who will be dre&sed iu fanciful and gay attire. ' Elder J. N. Smith will preach in the Christian church next Sunday morning on the subject, "The qua! ifications and obligations of elders, and the duty of the congregation to its elders," and in the evening he will review "The Sabbath Ques tion from a Roman Catholic Stand point, by The Catholic Mirror." Elder Smith will preach at Kick reall next Sunday afternoon at 3 p. m. - The Evangelical conference here closed last Monday at noon. The sessions were . all very Interesting and at preaching services in the evening the church could not near accommodate all those who wished to attend. Our town has had a re ligions awakening which will be of treat benefit. The executive board has stationed Rev. L. S. Fisher, formerly of Albany at this place. Rev. Miss Etta Simpson, of Peedee, iu company with the Misses Cassia and Lulu Locke, made a horseback trip to Independence on Thursday of last week. Bald mountain, close by, is snow-clad, and Mary's peak, a short distance to the southwest, shows cold and rugged. John Burns, a farmer near Lew isville, owns a 40-barrel flour mill there, with J. B. Ashenfelter as the head miller. Mr. Burns is a genius and has some cleverly constructed fencing which will raise with the water and let drift piiNS.
